Consent, honoured
Obeys the cookie banner you already have. No setup.
Consent, honoured
Whatever consent app you run, it writes the shopper's choice into Shopify's Customer Privacy API. Arbyn reads that. So if a shopper declines tracking, Arbyn does not set an analytics or marketing cookie for them, and it does not need to know which banner you use to get that right.
Set up once, then it runs.
Works with the banner you already run
Consentmo, Shopify's own cookie banner, Klaviyo's, or any other certified consent app. They all write to the same Shopify API, and Arbyn reads it. There is nothing to configure.
Storage is tiered by what the shopper allowed
Chat session continuity is necessary storage and only begins on real engagement. The analytics cookie and page-view signal wait for analytics consent. Return-visit personalisation waits for marketing consent.
A change of mind is honoured immediately
Arbyn listens for the consent event, so a shopper who accepts halfway through a page is picked up without a reload, and one who declines is not tracked from that moment on.
It degrades, it never blocks
A shopper who declines everything still gets the full support experience. Consent limits what is stored, not what they are allowed to ask for.
Why store owners turn this on.
Support tools are a common way a carefully configured cookie banner gets quietly undermined: the banner says no, and a widget sets a cookie anyway. Reading Shopify's own consent state means Arbyn honours the decision your banner already collected, without you wiring anything up per vendor.
What it does once it is connected.
- Read the shopper's consent state from Shopify's Customer Privacy API
- Hold analytics and marketing storage until the matching consent is granted
- Pick up a consent change mid-session, without a page reload
- Keep answering support questions either way
The consent app you already run governs Arbyn too. One caveat worth knowing: this depends on a banner that writes to Shopify's Customer Privacy API, and if yours does not, Arbyn stays in its no-tracking mode by default.
