Commslayer alternative for Shopify, without a conversation cap on your plan.

At $99 they cap you at 2,000 conversations. Arbyn charges $0, $59 or $99, flat.

Commslayer bills by billable conversation, which their pricing page defines as an email, live chat or DM you reply to at least once, billed once per thread per month. Every plan comes with a conversation cap and a per-conversation overage above it. Arbyn is $99 a month, unlimited, with a $0 plan underneath it.

The real bill

What you’d actually pay.

Three real scenarios at three real volumes, using Commslayer's published 2026 pricing and the automation rate their own team recommends. Arbyn's side is a flat monthly price you pick in advance, with nothing metered on top of it.

Solo store
500conversations/mo

We are not going to pretend otherwise. Under 800 conversations a month, Commslayer's $39 Plus plan costs less than either of Arbyn's paid plans, and their $0 plan covers your first 300. Arbyn Starter is $0 for 150 AI conversations a month, and Arbyn Growth is $59 for up to 500, so we are the cheaper answer only if your AI volume is small. At 500 conversations, they are.

Same price, different ceiling. Their Plus 2,000 tier is $99 and stops at 2,000 billable conversations, with AI agent messages and AI drafts metered as their own separate allotments on top. Arbyn's $99 has no conversation cap and no overage line, so a heavy month costs what a quiet month costs.

Verified July 2026. The billable-conversation definition and the overage model are from commslayer.com/pricing. The Plus 2,000 tier ($99/mo, 2,000 conversations, 4,000 AI agent messages, 4,000 AI drafts) is published on their Shopify App Store listing and corroborated by the comparison table on their pricing page. We publish no overage rate, because their pricing page states two different ones. Verified against commslayer.com/pricing.

Pricing model decoded

AI is included. What you pay for is the conversation.

Commslayer's model is clear and they are upfront about it: the AI agent and AI drafts come with every plan, seats are free, and what you actually buy is a monthly allotment of billable conversations. A billable conversation is any email, live chat or DM you reply to at least once, counted once per thread per month. Every tier has a cap, and past the cap you pay a per-conversation overage. We are not printing a rate for that overage, because their own pricing page states two different ones.

Where the bill actually grows
Cap

There is no unlimited-conversation plan. Every tier is defined by an included conversation count, and above 6,000 you are into a negotiated enterprise contract. Growth does not make your bill flatter on their model. It makes it bigger. Arbyn's $99 is the ceiling, not the entry.

3 pools

Conversations, AI agent messages and AI drafts are three separate allotments. Their Plus plan is 800 conversations, 1,600 AI agent messages and 1,600 AI drafts. That is three counters to watch in one month, and any of them can be the one that runs out first.

BFCM

A seasonal spike is a billing event. Black Friday doubles the conversations you reply to, which is the exact unit they charge for, so it also pushes you into overage or into the next tier. Arbyn's November invoice is $99, the same as July's.

Draft

A draft is not a resolution. Commslayer meters AI agent messages and AI drafts. Arbyn changes the address inside the conversation on its own, and issues refunds and starts returns with your approval, then writes the action to the Shopify order timeline so your team can see what happened.

The honest part

Where Commslayer actually wins.

A page that only says “we win” is a sales pitch, not a comparison. So here are three things Commslayer genuinely does better than Arbyn today, no hedging. Take them seriously if they matter to your store. Most Shopify store owners weigh them against $0, $59 or $99 a month, flat, and an agent that can act on the order, and switch anyway.

Where Commslayer is genuinely ahead, stated plainly.

Unlimited Instagram, Facebook and TikTok comment moderation on every plan, including the free one, is a real feature and we do not have it. Arbyn's social channels are roadmap, not live, and we will not pretend otherwise on our own compare page.

Their prices move. Their own blog post from December 2025 announced the entry plan going from $29 to $39, and the plan was renamed. The tiers on this page are what they published as of July 2026. Check their pricing page before you decide, because we cannot promise the numbers below will still be theirs next quarter.

Switch to Commslayer if you handle under 800 conversations a month, you want unlimited free seats for a small support team, and Instagram, Facebook and TikTok comment moderation is the job you are hiring for. Switch to Arbyn if your conversation volume is growing, you do not want to watch a meter, and you want the AI to actually change the shipping address and issue the refund on your approval rather than draft a reply about it.

  • 01Seats are genuinely free. Their pricing page says agents are unlimited on every plan, including Free, and they do not charge per seat. If you have a support team of six, that matters.
  • 02AI is not an add-on. AI agent replies and AI drafts come with every plan, including the $0 one, and they say so plainly. Plenty of helpdesks sell AI as a separate line item. Commslayer does not.
  • 03Below roughly 800 conversations a month, they are cheaper than us. Their $0 plan covers 300 conversations and their $39 plan covers 800, while Arbyn is $59 for up to 500 and $99 above that. If you are a solo store, start with them, or with Arbyn Starter or Growth, not with Arbyn Agent.

Where Arbyn wins

Three reasons store owners actually switch.

01 / $99 buys unlimited, not 2,000

$99 buys unlimited, not 2,000

Their $99 tier caps you at 2,000 billable conversations, then meters AI agent messages and AI drafts as separate allotments on top. Arbyn's $99 is unlimited conversations with no overage line and no allotment to track. Same price, no ceiling.

The Commslayer quirk

Three limits to watch on their side. One flat price on ours.

02 / Arbyn takes the order action

Arbyn takes the order action

Arbyn changes the shipping address inside the conversation on its own, issues the refund on your approval, and logs every action to the Shopify order timeline. Commslayer sells AI agent messages and AI drafts. A draft still needs a person to read it and send it.

The Commslayer quirk

The customer gets a resolution, not a reply about a resolution.

03 / Your bill does not know it is November

Your bill does not know it is November

A BFCM spike raises the number of conversations you reply to, which is exactly the thing Commslayer bills for, and past your cap it bills overage per conversation. Arbyn is $99 in November and $99 in February.

The Commslayer quirk

No forecast, no overage, no next-tier upgrade email.

Arbyn vs Commslayer: common questions

Arbyn has three flat plans, $0, $59 or $99 a month, and we will be straight with you: below a certain volume Commslayer genuinely costs less than Arbyn, and this page shows you exactly where that line falls instead of hiding it. Commslayer is priced per-conversation overage past your plan cap, so their bill climbs with your store while ours is a figure you choose in advance. If you are small and staying small, they may well be the cheaper choice. If you are growing, the flat line wins.
