Zipchat AI alternative for Shopify, without a meter on every AI reply.
More AI replies, bigger bill. Arbyn charges $0, $59 or $99, flat.
Zipchat meters the outbound AI reply, not the conversation. By their own numbers a conversation runs about 2.5 replies, so a longer back-and-forth costs more than a short one and the bill climbs as reply volume grows.
The real bill
What you’d actually pay.
Three real scenarios at three real volumes, using Zipchat AI's published 2026 pricing and the automation rate their own team recommends. Arbyn's side is a flat monthly price you pick in advance, with nothing metered on top of it.
500 conversations is about 1,250 AI replies at Zipchat's own 2.5:1 ratio. That fits inside Growth's 1,500 included replies, so no overage yet. At 500 conversations, Arbyn lands on its own $59 Growth plan, not the $99 Agent plan.
2,000 conversations is about 5,000 AI replies. That clears Pro's 3,000-reply cap entirely, so this volume lands on Scale.
5,000 conversations is about 12,500 AI replies. Scale's top published tier covers 6,000, and the remaining 6,500 replies bill at their published overage rate.
Tiers, included AI reply allowances, the $49-per-250 overage and the ~2.5 replies-per-conversation ratio all verified July 2026 against zipchat.ai/pricing.
Pricing model decoded
Four tiers. One meter that is not the conversation.
Zipchat's pricing page is unusually clean: four tiers, no seat fees, a published overage rate. The catch is the unit. You are buying AI replies, and Zipchat's own cards say a conversation takes about 2.5 of them.
The meter is the reply, not the conversation. Zipchat's own plan cards translate 500 replies into around 200 conversations, 1,500 into around 600, 3,000 into around 1,250 and 6,000 into around 2,500. That is roughly 2.5 AI replies per conversation, by their arithmetic. A thread with eight AI messages burns eight credits.
Overage is $49 per 250 replies, on every tier. That is $0.196 a reply, or about $0.49 for each extra conversation at their own 2.5:1 ratio. Two thousand conversations past your allowance is roughly 5,000 replies, which is 20 blocks, which is $980 on top of your plan. Arbyn has no overage line.
Scale is the top published tier, and it still has a cap. Scale is $499/mo for 6,000 included AI replies, about 2,500 conversations by Zipchat's own estimate. Past that you are back on the $49-per-250 meter. The tiers stop; the metering does not.
Their listing shows order status. Arbyn takes the action. Zipchat's Shopify App Store listing lists Order Status among its features. Arbyn changes the shipping address inside the conversation on its own, and issues refunds and starts returns with your approval, and logs each one to the Shopify order timeline.

The honest part
Where Zipchat AI actually wins.
A page that only says “we win” is a sales pitch, not a comparison. So here are three things Zipchat AI genuinely does better than Arbyn today, no hedging. Take them seriously if they matter to your store. Most Shopify store owners weigh them against $0, $59 or $99 a month, flat, and an agent that can act on the order, and switch anyway.
Where Zipchat AI is genuinely ahead, stated plainly.
Zipchat's pricing page is cleaner than most in this category. Four tiers, no seat fees, no double-billing, a published overage rate, and 20% off on annual billing. They are not hiding the meter. The question is not whether they are honest about it. The question is whether you want a meter at all.
The wedge is the unit. Zipchat bills the outbound AI reply, and by their own conversion a conversation runs about 2.5 of them. So the customer who asks three follow-up questions costs you more than the one who asks none, and the month your store gets busy is the month your support bill goes up. Arbyn bills $99 a month, flat, at any volume.
Switch to Arbyn when your reply volume has started deciding your bill, or when you want the AI to actually update the shipping address in the thread and put the refund in front of you for one tap instead of just reporting on the order.
- 01More channels than Arbyn ships today. Their listing covers chat, email, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger. Arbyn is email and live chat right now, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
- 02No seat fees anywhere. Every Zipchat tier includes unlimited team members, so growing the support team never changes the bill.
- 03Cheaper than Arbyn in a narrow band. Zipchat's $49 Starter is rated by Zipchat at around 200 conversations a month, so between roughly 150 and 200 conversations it undercuts our $59 Growth plan. Below 150, Arbyn Starter is $0 and covers more. Past 200 conversations Zipchat's own next tier is $129, well above Arbyn Growth's $59, which covers up to 500.
Where Arbyn wins
Three reasons store owners actually switch.
Flat, not per reply
Arbyn Agent is $99 a month at any volume. A ten-message thread does not cost ten credits, and a busy November does not cost more than a quiet February.
No overage line. Ever.
A free plan that carries a real store
Arbyn Starter is $0 a month, 150 AI conversations per calendar month, permanent, with every feature turned on. There is no cut-down tier and nothing to upgrade to unlock.
150 conversations, full features, $0.
It does the Shopify work
Arbyn changes the shipping address inside the conversation on its own, and issues the refund or starts the return the moment you approve it, then writes the action to the Shopify order timeline. Not a link to the order. The action.
Logged to the order timeline.
Arbyn vs Zipchat AI: common questions
Arbyn has three flat plans, $0, $59 or $99 a month, and we will be straight with you: below a certain volume Zipchat AI genuinely costs less than Arbyn, and this page shows you exactly where that line falls instead of hiding it. Zipchat AI is priced tiered by ai reply volume, so their bill climbs with your store while ours is a figure you choose in advance. If you are small and staying small, they may well be the cheaper choice. If you are growing, the flat line wins.
