ChChattyA bundled AI allowance, then $0.40 per AI conversation

Every AI conversation past your allowance costs $0.40. Arbyn charges $99, flat.

Chatty bundles a fixed number of AI conversations into each plan and bills $0.40 for every one past it, so the bill moves with how much your customers talk to the bot. Up to about 575 AI conversations a month Chatty costs less than we do, and we print that rather than hide it. Above it, Arbyn is $99 flat and there is no meter to watch.

The real bill

What you’d actually pay.

Three volumes, using Chatty's published plan prices, their published AI-conversation allowances and their published $0.40 overage, always on whichever Chatty plan is cheapest at that volume. The first card goes to Chatty, and we are printing it anyway. Arbyn is $99 flat at all three.

300AI conversations/mo

Chatty Pro bundles 500 AI conversations for $68.99, so 300 lands inside the allowance and nothing meters. Arbyn is $99. If you run a few hundred AI conversations a month and you do not need the AI to act on an order, Chatty costs you less than we do. Their rates. Our arithmetic, and our assumption that you always sit on Chatty's cheapest plan for your volume.

Past 1,000 the allowance runs out on Chatty's top published plan and the $0.40 keeps counting. A $1M to $5M brand doing 2,000 AI conversations a month pays $199 for Plus and $400 in overage. Arbyn is $99 flat. The rates are Chatty's, printed on their Basic, Pro and Plus plan cards. The assumption that the rate simply continues above 1,000, with no cap and no forced upgrade, is ours: no Chatty page states it either way.

There is no volume discount, so the rate at 5,000 is the rate at 1,001. A November spike is billed like a November spike. Arbyn is $99 flat in November and $99 flat in February. Verified July 2026. Chatty's four plan prices ($0, $19.99, $68.99, $199 per month, and $203.88, $707.88 and $2,039.88 billed yearly), the AI-conversation allowances they include (50, 100, 500, 1,000), the $0.40 per additional AI conversation rate printed on the Basic, Pro AND Plus plan blocks, and the 4.9 out of 5 from 1,800 reviews are all quoted from their Shopify App Store listing. chatty.net/pricing independently confirms the three paid prices, the allowances, the overage and the seat caps (1, 5, 10, unlimited agents, which are a cap and not a fee). Chatty's help center defines the meter as "a complete interaction between a customer and your AI assistant, from first message to resolution", counted once when it ends, states that exceeding the limit deactivates the AI on Free and bills the overage on paid plans, and documents an AI usage limit you can set to stop the spend. Every rate on this page is theirs. The assumptions are ours: that you always sit on Chatty's cheapest plan for your volume, and that the $0.40 rate continues above 1,000 AI conversations with no cap and no forced upgrade, which no Chatty page states either way. On order actions we make no claim about their code, only about their pages: Chatty documents no Shopify order action on its listing, its pricing page or its help center, and describes its AI as recommending products, answering FAQs, updating the cart, sending a checkout link and tracking orders. Prices verified against apps.shopify.com/chatty.

Pricing model decoded

Four tiers. One meter: the AI conversation.

Chatty's pricing is clear about what it charges for. Each plan bundles a fixed number of AI conversations, and once you are past it every AI conversation costs $0.40. Seats are capped rather than charged, so the only thing that moves your bill is how much your customers talk to the bot.

575

Chatty is cheaper than Arbyn up to about 575 AI conversations a month, and this page says so. Chatty Pro is $68.99 with 500 AI conversations included, then $0.40 each. At 575 that is $68.99 plus $30.00, so $98.99, a cent under Arbyn's $99. At 576 it is $99.39 and Arbyn is cheaper from there on, permanently. The rates are Chatty's. The arithmetic, and the assumption that you always sit on their cheapest plan, are ours. This crossover depends on Pro including 500 AI conversations, which is what their App Store listing and their pricing page both publish. Their help center publishes a different set of allowances, and on those numbers the crossover would fall to 375, which is better for us, so we publish the version that is most generous to Chatty.

$0.40

The overage rate is printed on Basic, Pro and Plus, so it is published, not inferred. The one thing no Chatty page states is what happens above 1,000 AI conversations: whether the $0.40 simply continues, or a cap or a forced upgrade kicks in. We assume it continues, and we say so. At 2,000 AI conversations that assumption puts Chatty at $599 and Arbyn at $99.

Limit

You can stop the overage, and that is a fair answer to metered pricing. Chatty's paid plans let you set an AI usage limit. When it is reached the AI stops responding to new conversations until the next billing cycle, and your human agents keep working. It protects the invoice. It is a stop, not a discount, so the month you are busiest is the month the tool either costs the most or does the least. Arbyn is $99 flat in both.

Order

Cart writes, yes. Order writes, not documented. Chatty's help center states its AI can update the shopping cart by adding and removing items and send the customer a checkout link, so we are not going to claim their AI takes no action at all. What it does not document, anywhere across the listing, chatty.net, their pricing page or their help center, is a Shopify ORDER action: no cancel, no refund, no discount code creation, no gift card, no reship, no return, no address change. A customer asking where the parcel is gets a good answer from both products. A customer asking for the order to be cancelled, the money back, or a replacement sent gets an answer from Chatty and an action from Arbyn.

The honest part

Where Chatty actually wins.

A page that only says “we win” is a sales pitch, not a comparison. So here are three things Chatty genuinely does better than Arbyn today, no hedging. Take them seriously if they matter to your store. Most Shopify store owners weigh them against a flat $99 a month (or $0 to start) and an agent that can act on the order, and switch anyway.

Where Chatty is genuinely ahead, stated plainly.

Chatty is a strong product and we are going to be straight about where it beats us. It is cheaper than Arbyn from 151 to about 575 AI conversations a month: at 300 to 500 AI conversations Chatty Pro is $68.99 against our $99. It is live on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger today, with AI replies on socials on the Pro plan, while Arbyn runs on support email and on-site chat with SMS in beta. It carries 4.9 out of 5 from 1,800 App Store reviews. It is sales-first rather than support-only, so product recommendations, proactive engagement and abandoned-cart recovery sit on both sides of this page. Its AI can update the shopping cart by adding and removing items, send the customer a checkout link with the current items in it, and match a customer's photo to a product in your catalog, which Arbyn does not document. And Chatty lets you set an AI usage limit so the $0.40 overage cannot run away from you: when the limit is reached the AI stops answering new conversations and your team keeps working. That is a fair answer to the objection people raise about metered pricing, and we are not going to pretend metering is automatically a trap.

Two things move the decision anyway. The first is the shape of the bill. Chatty's cheapest cost climbs with every AI conversation past your plan's allowance and it never comes back down: it passes Arbyn at 576 AI conversations, reaches $599 at 2,000 and $1,799 at 5,000. Arbyn is $99 there, and $99 in a quiet month, with a $0 Starter plan underneath it. The second is what happens when the customer wants the order changed rather than explained. Across Chatty's App Store listing, chatty.net, their pricing page and their help center, Chatty documents no Shopify order action: no cancel, no refund, no discount code creation, no gift card, no reship, no return, no address change. What they document is answering questions, recommending products, updating the cart, sending a checkout link and order tracking, which is a read of the order rather than a change to it. Arbyn updates a shipping address on its own, and cancels the order, issues the refund, applies a discount so the checkout already carries the code, sends a gift card, reships and starts a return once you approve with one click, after which Arbyn performs the real Shopify action and confirms it to the customer. That approval is a money control we chose to keep. Arbyn does not edit orders or line items, and we will not imply it does.

Stay on Chatty if you run a few hundred AI conversations a month, your customers message you on Instagram and WhatsApp, and you have someone who opens the Shopify admin to do the refunds and the address changes by hand. Come to Arbyn when the meter starts mattering, or when the tickets you dread are the ones that end in an order action.

  • 01Chatty is cheaper than Arbyn from 151 to about 575 AI conversations a month. At 300 to 500 AI conversations Chatty Pro is $68.99 and Arbyn is $99. If your store runs a few hundred AI conversations a month and you do not need order actions, Chatty costs you less than we do. That is the honest answer and we print it.
  • 02Chatty is live on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger today, with AI replies on socials on the Pro plan. Arbyn is live on support email and on-site chat, SMS is in beta, and those three are still coming. If social DMs are where your customers actually message you, Chatty covers them now and Arbyn does not.
  • 034.9 out of 5 from 1,800 Shopify App Store reviews. That is a deeper, more mature review base than Arbyn has, and there is no spin to put on it.

Where Arbyn wins

Three reasons store owners actually switch.

01 / The meter stops existing at $99

The meter stops existing at $99

Arbyn is $99 a month, flat, with unlimited AI conversations. Nothing meters: no per-ticket, per-resolution, per-seat, per-AI-reply or per-visitor fee. Your busiest month costs what your quietest month costs, and the $0 Starter plan underneath it carries 150 AI conversations every calendar month with the full feature set.

The Chatty quirk

Chatty Pro is $68.99 with 500 AI conversations included, then $0.40 each. At 575 AI conversations Chatty is $98.99 and Arbyn is $99. From 576 on, Arbyn is cheaper, and Chatty's cheapest cost never dips back under $99 above that. The rates are theirs. The arithmetic is ours.

02 / It acts on the order, not just the cart

It acts on the order, not just the cart

Arbyn updates a shipping address on its own. It cancels the order, issues the refund, applies a discount so the checkout already has the code on it, sends a gift card, reships and starts a return once you approve with one click, and then Arbyn performs the real Shopify action and confirms it to the customer. That one click is a deliberate money control, not a missing feature. Arbyn does not edit orders or line items.

The Chatty quirk

Chatty does not document any Shopify order action on its App Store listing, its pricing page or its help center. Its own listing title scopes the product: "AI Chat & sale: recommend products, answer FAQs, track orders." Order tracking is a read of the order, and it changes nothing.

03 / The checkout arrives with the discount already on it

The checkout arrives with the discount already on it

Both tools sell, and Arbyn sells further. Product quizzes, a bundle builder, in-chat upsells, discount offers, abandoned-cart recovery inside the chat, and revenue attribution on every order the agent sources. When Arbyn offers a discount, it creates the real Shopify code and the checkout already carries it.

The Chatty quirk

Chatty is sales-first too, and we will not run a "we do sales, they only do support" line against them. Their AI can update the cart and send a checkout link. Chatty gets the customer to a checkout. Arbyn gets the customer to a checkout with the discount code already applied. The code is the difference, not the checkout.

Arbyn vs Chatty: common questions

Not at every volume, and we will not pretend otherwise: below a certain volume Chatty genuinely costs less than Arbyn, and this page shows you exactly where that line falls rather than hiding it. What Arbyn gives you instead is a bill that does not move: $99/mo flat for unlimited AI conversations and resolutions, with no per-ticket, per-resolution or per-seat fees, plus a free plan with 150 AI conversations a month. Chatty is priced a bundled ai allowance, then $0.40 per ai conversation, so their bill climbs with your store while ours stays put. If you are small and staying small, they may well be the cheaper choice. If you are growing, the flat line wins.
