# Commslayer Alternative for Shopify: Priced by Volume, Capped at 6,000 > Commslayer is cheaper than Arbyn under about 2,000 conversations, then their tiers climb and cap at 6,000. Arbyn is $99 flat and unlimited, at any volume. Source: https://arbyn.app/compare/commslayer ## How Commslayer charges Metered by billable conversation. $0 for 300 conversations, $39 for 800, $99 for 2,000, $299 for 6,000, then custom above that. AI agent replies and AI drafts are included on every plan, including the free one, and seats are unlimited. Every tier has a conversation cap, and conversations past that cap bill as overage. Commslayer bills by billable conversation, which their pricing page defines as an email, live chat or DM you reply to at least once, billed once per thread per month. Every plan comes with a conversation cap and a per-conversation overage above it. Arbyn is $99 a month, unlimited, with a $0 plan underneath it. ## Where Commslayer beats Arbyn - Seats are genuinely free. Their pricing page says agents are unlimited on every plan, including Free, and they do not charge per seat. If you have a support team of six, that matters. - AI is not an add-on. AI agent replies and AI drafts come with every plan, including the $0 one, and they say so plainly. Plenty of helpdesks sell AI as a separate line item. Commslayer does not. - Below roughly 800 conversations a month, they are cheaper than us. Their $0 plan covers 300 conversations and their $39 plan covers 800, while Arbyn Agent is $99 whatever your volume. If you are a solo store, start with them or with Arbyn Starter, not with Arbyn Agent. Unlimited Instagram, Facebook and TikTok comment moderation on every plan, including the free one, is a real feature and we do not have it. Arbyn's social channels are roadmap, not live, and we will not pretend otherwise on our own compare page. Their prices move. Their own blog post from December 2025 announced the entry plan going from $29 to $39, and the plan was renamed. The tiers on this page are what they published as of July 2026. Check their pricing page before you decide, because we cannot promise the numbers below will still be theirs next quarter. Switch to Commslayer if you handle under 800 conversations a month, you want unlimited free seats for a small support team, and Instagram, Facebook and TikTok comment moderation is the job you are hiring for. Switch to Arbyn if your conversation volume is growing, you do not want to watch a meter, and you want the AI to actually change the shipping address and issue the refund on your approval rather than draft a reply about it. ## Where Arbyn wins ### $99 buys unlimited, not 2,000 Their $99 tier caps you at 2,000 billable conversations, then meters AI agent messages and AI drafts as separate allotments on top. Arbyn's $99 is unlimited conversations with no overage line and no allotment to track. Same price, no ceiling. _Three limits to watch on their side. One flat price on ours._ ### Arbyn takes the order action Arbyn changes the shipping address inside the conversation on its own, issues the refund on your approval, and logs every action to the Shopify order timeline. Commslayer sells AI agent messages and AI drafts. A draft still needs a person to read it and send it. _The customer gets a resolution, not a reply about a resolution._ ### Your bill does not know it is November A BFCM spike raises the number of conversations you reply to, which is exactly the thing Commslayer bills for, and past your cap it bills overage per conversation. Arbyn is $99 in November and $99 in February. _No forecast, no overage, no next-tier upgrade email._ ## Cost at real volumes | Scenario | Volume | Their cost | You save with Arbyn | |---|---|---|---| | Solo store | 500 conversations/mo | $39/mo | They win | | Growing DTC | 2,000 conversations/mo | $99/mo | $0/mo | | Scale | 5,000 conversations/mo | $299/mo | $200/mo | Source: [commslayer.com/pricing](https://commslayer.com/pricing). Verified July 2026. The billable-conversation definition and the overage model are from commslayer.com/pricing. The Plus 2,000 tier ($99/mo, 2,000 conversations, 4,000 AI agent messages, 4,000 AI drafts) is published on their Shopify App Store listing and corroborated by the comparison table on their pricing page. We publish no overage rate, because their pricing page states two different ones. Verified against ## Pricing - **Arbyn Starter** - $0/month, permanently free. 150 conversations / month. Resets 1st of each month. - **Arbyn Agent** - $99/month flat, unlimited conversations. Or $990/year (2 months free, saves $198, 17% off). - **There is no trial.** Billing starts immediately on the Agent plan. The free Starter plan is permanent. - The conversation cap is the only difference between plans. There is no feature gating. ## Channels Live today: **support email** and **on-site live chat**. That is the complete list. SMS, Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Voice are on the roadmap and are NOT live. Arbyn does not edit orders or change line items. Money-moving actions (cancel, refund, discount, gift card, reship, return) require the store owner's approval, and then Arbyn performs them. Running them fully autonomously is a beta authorization and is in development. Shipping address changes are already autonomous. ## What Arbyn does on a Shopify order - **Change the shipping address**: Live. Arbyn does this on its own. Arbyn updates the shipping address on the Shopify order itself, inside the conversation, and writes the change to the order timeline. - **Cancel an order**: Live. You approve it, then Arbyn cancels the order. Anything that moves money waits for the store owner's approval. That is a deliberate control, not a missing feature. Once you approve, Arbyn fires Shopify's order cancellation itself and confirms it to the customer. - **Issue a refund**: Live. You approve it, then Arbyn issues the refund. Arbyn prepares the refund against the original payment method and sends it to you. On approval it files the refund in Shopify. You can cap the value it is allowed to prepare, per channel. - **Apply a discount**: Live. Arbyn creates a real Shopify discount and applies it to the cart, handing the shopper a checkout with the code already on it. It can also issue a discount code on an order once you approve it. - **Send a gift card, or reship an order**: Live. You approve it, then Arbyn does it. Arbyn creates the gift card, or raises the replacement order, in Shopify once you approve. - **Start a return**: Live. You approve it, then Arbyn opens the return. Arbyn opens the return in Shopify on your approval. - **Look up a gift card or store-credit balance**: Live. Arbyn does this on its own. "Do I have store credit left?" is a question most support tools answer with a human. Arbyn reads the balance itself, for a verified customer or from the code they give you, and reports the masked card, the balance and the expiry. If there is no card, it says so rather than guessing. - **Handle a subscription question**: Live. You choose what it does. Arbyn knows which of your products are sold as a subscription, shows that on the product card in the conversation, and sends a subscriber to their subscription management page to pause, skip or cancel. It answers how your subscriptions work from your own knowledge, but it does not read an individual customer's contract, so it will not state their renewal date or status. Most cancels are a customer with product piling up, and the fix is getting them to the page where they can slow the cadence down. Reading the contract itself is on the roadmap. - **Answer support email and live chat**: Live. Arbyn reads every inbound support email and every chat, works out the intent, pulls the live Shopify context, and replies in your brand voice. Money-moving actions (cancel, refund, discount, gift card, reship, return) require the store owner's approval, and then Arbyn performs them. Running them fully autonomously is a beta authorization and is in development. Shipping address changes are already autonomous.
